Other/Personal Projects
Projects that don’t fit into the other categories but projects I’m proud of nonetheless.
Glue Stick Holder
The goal of this project was to pitch a design for a glue stick holder to the Child Development Center of my community college as a class project. My 3d modeling class consulted with students from the Child Development Center on design criteria and provided a conceptual design sketch. They then selected two designs out of the whole class and mine was one of them. After, I created a 3d model of my design using Fusion 360 and 3d printed a full-scale model. My design was inspired by the children’s book A Very Hungry Caterpillar and provided a modular setup. Each section of the caterpillar slotted into the next providing the opportunity for an infinitely long caterpillar. I’m proud of this project because I had to compete for the opportunity to make this and I’m also proud because it was used in a classroom every day by children who read the book.
Portable Cell Phone Charger
This project was inspired by an online forum post. The project in the forum used a premade circuit and I wanted to challenge myself by designing a circuit that would produce the appropriate inputs and outputs. The circuit was first modeled using Multisim then prototyped on a breadboard with the voltage outputs being verified by a multimeter. The final circuit was packaged in an Altoids mint container by soldering components to a perfboard, snipping the board to size, and powering with a 9v battery.
